If anyone has ever seen an exhausted honey bee or bumble bee or butterfly on the ground, too tired to move and almost certainly not able to get home, you’ll know how helpless you feel – you just want to help them get home, and all they need is a boost of energy (carbohydrates). This company in the UK BEEVIVE developed a “Bee Revival Kit”, which is just FANTASTIC! It is a tiny vial of sugar water/syrup that is attached to a key chain, so anywhere you go, if you see one of these exhausted insects, you can give it a drop of this sugar syrup and help it get home again. They are the originators of the idea (although there are lots of cheaper INFERIOR products now out there that I would not trust as you don’t know what’s in the sugar syrup!) – so these are the ONLY people I would recommend. Even if you’re just driving somewhere, you might see a tired bee while filling up with gas somewhere – or coming out of a restaurant – or if you’re on a hike somewhere – or just out in the garden – this way, you can always save a bee or butterfly. They are just amazing! Here is a butterfly I saved the other day, that is a drop of the sugar syrup from my BEE REVIVAL KIT!
