All about Orchid Bees, featuring unique 3D printed Orchid Bee Pods and Orchid Bee Clubs – to attract the sweet males. Male Orchid Bees love clove oil (in particular, the “NOW” brand), and if you soak cotton balls in clove oil and place them inside the Orchid Bee Pods or Clubs, the male orchid bees crawl inside, get the clove oil and then fly out, rubbing it on their legs to attract the ladies! They are gorgeous irridescent green, shy bees – with the flight pattern of a hummingbird, darting around – they are ADORABLE!
These Orchid Bee Pods and Clubs are UNIQUE, they are 3D printed by an amazing nature lover in the UK – imported to the USA. The PODS are the round/spherical onces, and the CLUBS are the “flying saucer” style, canopy designs. Because clove oil has the strength of an acid, this filament is specific to these items, and is stronger than most resins and filaments. Having said that, it’s best not to get it on the actual Pod or Club because over time, it can eat through the filament. NEVER EVER EVER APPLY CLOVE OIL DIRECTLY TO THE BEE POD OR CLUB – THEY ARE MADE OF A FILAMENT/RESIN THAT UNFORTUNATELY CLOVE OIL (ACTING LIKE AN ACID) CAN EAT THROUGH IT AND WARP IT. EITHER THAT OR IT ACTS LIKE A GLUE AND SEALS IT SHUT. ALWAYS USE A COTTON BALL SOAKED IN CLOVE OIL AND PLACE IT CAREFULLY ON YOUR POD OR CLUB. ASK ME IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS AND IF YOU’RE IN FORT LAUDERDALE, I AM HAPPY TO MEET YOU TO SHOW YOU HOW IT’S DONE!
FOR ORCHID BEE PODS: When you open your Orchid Bee Pod, there is a little tray inside that is removable, with four outer circles and one center little platform. It is ESSENTIAL that you only put the clove oil and cotton balls on the center platform – if you put clove oil anywhere on the bee pod itself, it acts like an acid and glue and will either seal the bee pod shut for ever, or will eat through the filament of the bee pod. So make sure you soak the cotton ball in clove oil BEFORE putting it on the tray – then put it on the center of the tray and then place that on the bee pod before twisting it closed. FOR ORCHID BEE CLUBS: When you unscrew the canopy, you’ll be able to place the cotton balls on the outside of the center column. If you have any questions, email me! Just remember – NEVER EVER apply clove oil directly to the filament (the resin) – it acts as an acid and can eat through the filament and warp the tray and/or pod.
